Yes, you read that right. This city girl is going camping.
I spend my days in pencil skirts and pumps. And my evenings in dresses and stilettos.
I own exactly 2 pairs of tennis shoes. One for the treadmill and one for outside running. Flip flops are only worn to run to the mailbox. Wedges in the summer and boots in the winter are worn for errand running.
I'm a girly girl.
I love organization and crave structure.
I do not like it when my day is not neatly planned out in my Erin Condren Life Planner.
When I go on vacation, I'm the girl with 3 bags (for one night) because I like having options.
So why on earth I have agreed to go camping with my mom's entire family?
Where I will sink in the ground in my heels, and step in a hole and break my ankle while wearing wedges?
Where my feet will be black from dirt in my flip flops?
Where there's no real point of makeup because I'll sweat it off?
Where there's no plans? No dinner time? No menu?
What have I agreed to?
I must have been overtaken by extraterrestrials.

I guess I can't complain too much because I am staying in the "luxury cabin."
Complete with bed, AC, bathroom, kitchenette, wifi, and cable TV.

I can guarantee it will not be as fabulous as this one though.
But here's where my problem really is...
What do I bring?
Yes, I know the obvious things like bedding, personal care, clothes, water, soda, and adult beverages. But what else? What kind of food do I bring when they don't know when or who or what will be eaten?
Remember, I'm the girl who packs 3 suitcases because I like choices.
I'm afraid I'll bring too much food. Or not enough.
Or I'll really want Italian pasta salad instead of Cucumber Ranch salad.
This is all giving me severe anxiety!

I really need suggestions from you experience campers and definitely from you other city girls who have endured a weekend of camping.

Shorts, tshirts, swimsuit, sneakers, flip flops! No makeup, heels or wedges allowed!
ReplyDeleteOh, and a hoodie for at night. Sometimes it gets chilly. ;)
Oh lord. We like to make brats/hot dogs because they are easiest. Sloppy joes are easy and you could even bring your crockpot and make something int here. For beach snacks we bring, triscuits, cheese, chips, cheez its, fresh fruit. Sometimes we will make pasta salad ahead of time before we go. Also, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are always a good thing. I would meal plan your time there out so you don't over or under plan. Also, only bring one sweatshirt and one pair of pants. I live in gym shorts/tshirts and flip flops when camping and hell when I'm not.
ReplyDeleteClothes to keep you warm at night! Even though it will be super hot during the day it gets cold and night! Newest follower. Found you via Aimless Translation :)
